The Answer to the Sphinx’s Puzzle by Jacqueline T., 810

What is the creature that walks on four legs in the morning?
A small fragile baby, who knows nothing in life.
Its skin is a bright pink,
Its eyes a bright blue,
With only its hands and knees to guide the way.

What is the creature that walks on two legs at noon?
A man in his youth.
Tall, smiling, and ready for adventure.
His skin now a dull tan,
His eyes a deep, mesmerizing blue,
as he walks all over the world,
with his strong legs to aid him.

What is the creature that walks on three legs in the evening?
Why, an old man as frail as can be.
Just as fragile as the baby, but with a head full of wisdom.
His skin is a deep wrinkle,
His eyes have lost their luster,
And now he depends on the cane
to uphold his will.
