Colors Are Illusions by Angus C., 802

Hello, I would like to give you a warm welcome today,

To you, a citizen of the USA.

The Constitution states “all men are created equal”, but we all know that is a lie.

Is this why we choose to hate instead of setting our differences aside?

Why can’t we just be selfless for one second, understand other people, and comply?

Is the hatred to other people really that strong?

Such as in race, why do we choose not to forget past wrongs?

And choose to exact our anger on innocent “mockingbirds”, when all they do is sing sweet songs?

Take for example, the status of Islamic refugees,

Why do we not permit them to practice their religion and let them be?

Can we please look past the problem of skin color and race?

We’re all human after all, if you look.

I am quote something from Atticus Finch, in the book,

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-until you climb into his skin and walk around it.”

To rephrase it, in order to understand someone, you need to walk around in their shoes.

Judge by their words and action, not their skin hues.

Don’t let someone else of that race’s past influence you.

Forgive and forget, that’s all we do.

There was a hate crime on Facebook Live.

It was streamed publicly on January 5.

4 individual assaulted a mentally ill white man,

Deceived him, kidnapped him, and threw him into their van.

Beat him until blood came out from his scars,

Really? Isn’t this taking it too far?

One should never harm another,

Treat everyone like sisters and brothers.

Remember how the election divided us all between Hillary and Trump?

How we all thought after this inauguration, this country would turn into a dump?

The truth of the matter is that Trump is president, and no matter how much you protest, that won’t change.

Please look past all his wrongdoings and stupid things he said during his campaign.

Just because you don’t get what you want, doesn’t mean you can be mad.

If the human race is god’s masterpiece, why did he decide to include all things, both good and bad?

All these protests use violence, which isn’t the solution.

Why do we still choose to be masked by this illusion?

For example, one Trump supporter extinguished a flame.

His purpose was to make a truce, that’s why he came.

Real courage is when – “you know you’re licked before you begin, but you see it through anyways.”

Everyone’s a mockingbird, so don’t shoot, for they aren’t blue jays.

Recently, Carolyn Bryant Donham revealed the truth about Emmett Till

That she lied, and had gotten a 14 year old killed.

However, the apology won’t help Emmett’s family’s heart be filled.

We all need to learn to love, not harm and kill,

Thank you.
