As following the vertical leap trend raging among students in IS 187, I decided that it would be appropriate to include some insight on Hinata Shouyou (Shōyō) from one of my favorite animes—Haikyuu!!Hinata is 162.8 cm (or 5′ 4″), shorter than the average 8th-grade athlete. Despite his vertical disadvantage (he’s in high school), he plays in the volleyball team as middle blocker (usually for the tallest people). His only recorded jump was 333 cm (about 10.9252 feet), which is higher than the rim in a basketball hoop. He can do a dunk, and he’s only 5’4″!
