“Tis’ the season to be jolly! Fa la la la la la, la la la,” the choir sang. After their song was finished, the choir went backstage. Samantha’s nose was quivering a little bit. “Your nose is quivering,” Anna commented. Samantha let out a very powerful sneeze. “ACHOO!” Anna laughed and sang, “Tis the season to be sneezing! Fa la la la la la, la la la!”
“Wow. Great singing,” Samantha mumbled sarcastically. Anna took it seriously and exclaimed,”Thanks!” Samantha knew that it was almost Christmas. It wasn’t a time to be in a bad mood. It was a time to be jolly. Samantha felt her nose becoming stuffy. “Ugh.” Samantha rolled her eyes.
“ACHOO! ACHOO! ACHOO!” Samantha felt her eyes watering. Samantha restrained herself from sneezing. She knew that if her mom knew that she was sick, she wouldn’t let her partake in the Winter Concert.
Samantha started to head home. She practiced singing on the way. “We wish you a merry christmas! We wish you a merry christmas! We wish you a merry christmas and a happy new ACHOO! She rubbed her nose and continued singing. Before long, she arrived at her house.
Samantha felt the urge to sneeze, so she pressed her nose as hard as she could. “Samantha, darling. You’re going to get a nosebleed due to pressure building up inside of your nose,” Her mom cooed. “But mom…I don’t want to,” Samantha grimaced. Samantha realized that she sounded like an old granny.
“Heh, heh,” Samantha muttered under her breath. “Granny’s mad at you!” Samantha exclaimed while pointing her free hand at her mother. Her mom hit Samantha on the head. Samantha hands immediately dropped. “ACHOO!” “My, oh my. You’re not going to the Winter Concert,” Samantha’s mom mumbled strictly. “But mom…” Samantha protested.
Samantha’s mom jabbed Samantha in the nose. “ACHOO!” Samantha’s mom shoved Samantha into her bed. Her mom was being generous, so she put a television into Samantha’s room. “The Winter Concert is tomorrow! Watch it!” Samantha’s mom exclaimed.
On December 21st, Samantha turned on the “Winter Delights” channel. Miss Larder was getting the choir ready. “One, two, three,” Miss Larder mouthed. “We wish you a merry christmas! We wish you a merry christmas! We wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year! Good tidings to you, wherever you are! We wish you a merry Christ-mas and a happy new year!” *Shouts* *Clapping* *Cheering*
Samantha nearly cried. She could’ve sworn that Anna winked at her if anybody was standing or sitting next to her. Miss Larder seemed to have winked at her, too. “One, two, three,” Miss Larder mouthed.
“Tis’ the season to be sneezing! Fa la la la la la, la la la!” Samantha’s jaw dropped. It was crazy! They were supposed to sing it with the word ‘jolly!’ Were they really dedicating it to her? “Tis’ the season to be sneezing! Fa la la la la la, la la la!” They were serious about the ‘sneezing’ part. It wasn’t a mistake.
When the choir finished the song, the audience was doubling over with laughter. Laughter! The audience loved it! Samantha felt so proud. Anna stepped up to the mic and said,”This wonderful song is dedicated to our very own Samantha. She is currently sick at home, watching this, live. Thank you.” Some audience members were misty eyed. Samantha was also misty eyed.
The Next Day
The very second that Samantha saw Anna, she ran over and hugged her. “C’mon. Let’s go to your house,” Samantha mumbled. When they were inside Anna’s house, they started talking immediately. “This is going to be the best Christmas ever!”
